Managing Director (Zambia)


Company Profile

Our client, a diverse global media company, seeks to appoint a Managing Director to lead the team in Zambia. Reporting directly to the Regional Director Southern Africa this position will take full responsibility for all financial, operational and strategic aspects in Zambia. This position requires a strong leader who can confidently handle the every changing regulatory space in the digital pay TV industry and being successful in growing the business in a country with a host of environmental complexities.

This position presents excellent growth potential to the successful incumbent.


Reporting Relationships

Direct reports to the position include the following: Regulatory Affairs Manager, HR Manager, Public Relations Manager, Head of Sales and Marketing, Operations Manager, Finance Manager and General Manager TV Division.

Summary of Responsibilities

Responsibilities for Managing Director include the following:

  • Responsible for achieving financial (subscriber growth, operating profit, cash flow), operational and customer retention targets
  • Responsibility for subsidy management and execution of the Sales Strategies
  • Be the focal point for regulatory issues in the country including new legislations, regulations and technological developments impacting on the sector
  • Take responsibility for overall Logistics and Distribution drive for the business
  • Take responsibility for Customer Service delivery
  • Monitor and Propose Strategies to keep the Zambia business unit competitive


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Very strong business acumen and sound financial skills developed in complex environments
  • 10 years’ experience in Business Management
  • 5-year Commercial experience running an enterprise at a General management level
  • Relationship management with key stakeholders


Education and Training 
  • Master’s degree in Business Management or related qualification
