General Manager, China | Leading Sports Entertainment Company
Background
Our client was a leading global sports entertainment company headquartered in the United States and operating 50+ venues in the United States, United Kingdom and Asia Pacific. They employed 15,000 associates and served 13 million guests annually. The company was private equity-backed by leading firms and experienced investors.
The Need
Our client was seeking expansion into Asia, focused on the China market. The China market was franchised via a joint venture and they needed to recruit a strong general manager to lead their entry into China. An energetic, hands-on, and inspiring leader was required to successfully launch and grow the business in China while owning the China P&L. Specifically, this person would lead operations, sales and marketing, finance, human resources, SCO, technology, etc. to support the market entry and launch of the first China venues in key cities. In addition to managing the business, this executive needed to instill confidence for key stakeholders, such as the private equity backers, brand owner/franchisor and franchisee joint venture partners.
