BACKGROUND

Our client was a specialist global software products and services company, focused on solutions for healthcare providers. Headquartered in Singapore and with presence in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, they had a comprehensive suite of products that were scalable and easy to implement, making them the obvious choice for private and public sector healthcare providers of all sizes. In addition to their flagship hospital information system and electronic medical record database for hospitals and clinics, their offerings included an interoperable cloud-based platform that empowered residential care (nursing homes), disability centers, home care, remote patient monitoring, and telemedicine.

THE NEED

Our client’s goals were to establish themselves as the best-in-class AI-led cloud-based health tech company in the industry, and expand their penetration into new geographical markets. The CEO of the company had led a major turnaround of the business over the last few years, and was now looking at strengthening their product portfolio, from the point of view of functionality as well as performance, as a key growth enabler in the months to come. There was a clear need to significantly improve the quality of products being developed and launched from their global engineering center, so that these products performed even under the most demanding customer environments.

Our client was seeking to bring in a Head of Quality, who could not only streamline their systems and processes, but also automate as many activities as possible, in order to deliver consistently high-quality software. They were looking for a quality practitioner who could work with different stakeholders and institute a quality culture and discipline in the organization. They were not looking for a consultant who did not have a proven ability to execute.

STRATEGY AND APPROACH

The search was particularly challenging as our client was looking for a quality leader who came from extensive experience in SaaS products, and there weren’t too many companies like that in Hyderabad, India (the location of the role). Going deep, we thoroughly researched the SaaS business landscape in not only Hyderabad, but also adjacent regions like Bangalore and Chennai, and built a comprehensive long list of candidates from several mid-sized, large as well as emerging SaaS companies. We shortlisted four candidates who the client interviewed, of whom one was successfully offered the position.
